WHAT IS THIS #Y2K?

I'm sure many of you have heard the term "Y2K" in passing! However, you may not be entirely sure what this means in the fashion world. We explain everything you need to know about Y2K fashion and why it's a trend that should be on your radar!

WHAT IS THIS #Y2K?

Every few years, fashion trends go back a decade, with some of the items we loved back then resurrected in stores, streetwear, and popular fashion. The “Y2K fashion trend” in question can be termed as the re-emergence of clothing and aesthetic trends from the late 90s and 2000s. People often think that Y2K fashion refers to the trends of the years 2000-2010, due to the dual meaning 2K, meaning "2000" in its name. While this is partly so, the term Y2K also connotes other situations. Y2K's aesthetic understanding emerged in the late 1990s, when people were both afraid and eagerly awaiting at a time when technology was on the rise.

For many, the year 2000 marked the beginning of an entirely new era, a time of prosperity, and for some, even the end of the world. Because of this attitude, people who tend to consume luxury and designer pieces started to chase after futuristic pieces. The dressing style of this period has become more flexible and comfortable, suitable for street fashion, integrating with technology, consisting of brand logos, shirts and dresses.
